IONICS Develops Power Supplies For Electron Beam Melting And Electron Beam Welding
OUR COMPANY
IONICS develops High Voltage and High Powered Power Supplies for Electron Beam Melting and Electron Beam Welding
Electron beam welding (EBW) is a fusion welding process in which a beam of high velocity electrons is applied to the materials being joined. The workpieces melt as the kinetic energy of the electrons is transformed into heat upon impact. Electron beam welding (EBW) is used mainly for fabricating structures that have stringent quality, strength, and joint reliability requirements. This process has been applied in aerospace, shipbuilding, defence applications and instrument manufacturing. EBW power supplies developed by IONICS are a set of 6 integrated power supplies housed in a single cabinet.
- Acceleration Voltage
- Filament Supply
- Bias Supply
- Focus Supply
- Beam Deflection Supply
- Beam Oscillation Supply
As their name suggests, these power supplies are used to manipulate the electron beam so that it can be electronically positioned on the job. The electron gun was designed and developed in BARC and a consortium of 3 companies was formed to design and build the entire unit. A total of 4 units were developed by this consortium, 2 of which were installed in BARC and 2 were installed in 2 IITs.
